FDA publishes draft regulation on restrictions for the use of fish oil as a food material

The aim of the project is to harmonize with international standards and meet the needs of special patients. Relevant aspects:
⢠Raw material must be exclusively from traditional edible fish sources.
⢠Daily intake will be based on the total amount of EPA and DH and the limit as a general food ingredient should not exceed 2g.
⢠The daily consumption of fish oil raw materials for foods prepared for specified diseases controlled and recorded by the Ministry of Health and Welfare based on the total amount of EPA and DHA will not exceed 5 g.
The comment period is 60 days.
