DINAVISA consolidates sanitary surveillance and food control

According to Law No. 7.361/24, which amends and extends the provisions of Law No. 6788/2021 “which establishes the competence, attributions and organizational structure of the National Directorate of Health Surveillance (DINAVISA in Spanish), this agency will assume the competences in food regulation exercised by the National Institute of Food and Nutrition (INAN in Spanish).
To this end, the Minister of Health, Dr. María Teresa Barán, led a meeting at the headquarters of the National Institute of Food and Nutrition (INAN), together with the interim director of DINAVISA, to plan the transfer of competences and consolidate in a single entity the sanitary surveillance and food control.
