New regulation project for edible vinegars

The National Office of Food Safety (ONSSA in French) has published the Draft Decree on the quality and sanitary safety of marketed vinegars. The draft essentially aims to:

  • Define new vinegars, namely whey vinegar and honey vinegar;
  • Indicate the names under which vinegars may be marketed;
  • Introduce regulatory provisions relating to the sanitary approval of establishments, traceability of vinegars and the
  • Introduce regulations concerning the sanitary approval of establishments, traceability of vinegars and packaging specifications;
  • To define the terms of labeling and presentation for the sale of vinegars.
  • marketed;
  • Plan the content of table vinegars and dispense other types;
  • Provide for the repeal of Decree No. 2-10-385 of 23 Jumada II 1432 (May 27, 2011) concerning the regulation of the manufacture and trade of vinegars.
