Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) issued Notice 282-24 in relation to application No. A1283, to seek comment on the use of 2'-fucosyl lactose (2'-FL) produced by genetically modified Corynebacterium glutamicum in infant formula.

The FSANZ has assessed an application made by Advanced Protein Technologies Corp. to amend the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code to permit the use of 2′-fucosyllactose produced from a genetically modified Corynebacterium glutamicum as a nutritive substance in infant formula products and has prepared a draft food regulatory measure.

Pursuant to section 31 of the Food Standards Australia New Zealand Act 1991 (FSANZ Act), FSANZ now calls for submissions to assist consideration of the draft food regulatory measure.
