Draft instructions for importation of processed foods from the EU

The National Agency for Health Regulation, Control and Surveillance (ARCSA in Spanish) has published a draft instructions on the importation of processed foods from the European Union. The objective of the instructions is to communicate to the legal representative of the establishment in Ecuador the requirements and procedures necessary for the importation of processed foods from countries of the European Union, when the companies and products are registered under the pre-listing modality.
The "pre-listing" is defined as the process by which the competent authority of the exporting country evaluates the prerequisites and eligibility of a company for exporting in the EU. If the authority certifies that the EU importing requirements are met, the exporter is included in a preliminary list ("pre-lista") that is the recognized by EU member states authorizing the importation.
Public consultation is open until November 23, 2023.
