Use of 2′-FL combined with GOS and/or ITF in infant formula products

The Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) announced the approval of Application A1251, which permitted the combination of 2′-fucosyllactose (2′-FL) with galactooligosaccharides (GOS) and/or inulin-type fructans (ITF) as ingredients in infant formula products.
According to the current Standard, 2′-FL, GOS and ITF can be added separately to infant formula products, but the addition of 2’-FL in combination with GOS and/or ITF is not allowed. After the latest amendment, the authority will remove this prohibition from the Food Standards Code.
