High levels of vitamin D authorized in cow's milk, goat's milk and margarine
Jan 25, 2022
Health Canada published a Marketing Authorization in Canada Gazette, Part II to permit increased vitamin D levels in cow's milk, goat's milk and margarine.
The Marketing Authorization allows manufacturers to voluntarily increase vitamin D in these products to specified levels. For milks, it allows the "excellent source of vitamin D" claim to be maintained when applying the new, increased daily value that must be displayed in the new Nutrition Facts table, as they will contain at least 25% daily value, per serving.
