China opens consultation for two substances used in food contact materials

Following a technical review by an expert committee, on the 24th of June, 2024, the Chinese National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment (CFSA) announced a public consultation on two new substances: 1,3,5-trimethyl-2,4,6-tris(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxybenzyl) benzene and Poly-3-hydroxybutyrate-3-hydroxycaproate. These substances are used in plastic materials and food contact materials. The consultation period will last until the 19th of July, 2024.
