Australia
Nov 14, 2023
The Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) Board has approved the proposal to review the requirements for making voluntary nutrition content claims about added sugars in food.
Specifically, the proposal seeks to clarify and define added sugars for the purposes of making ‘no added sugar(s)’ nutrition content claims and to align added sugar claims with dietary guidelines.
Australian and New Zealand food ministers have been notified of the approval and have 60 days to consider it, after which the Code will be amended to include the revised standard.
