NETHERLANDS - 100% VEGETABLE CLAIM FOR MARGARINE NOT AFFECTED BY PRESENCE OF NON-VEGATABLE INGREDIENTS
Netherlands
Mar 29, 2020
The Dutch Advertising Code Commission (Reclame Code Commissie) upheld that margarine is considered of vegetable origin insofar the product contains only fats of vegetable origin. The commission adheres to a strict reading of EU Regulation 1308/2013 establishing a common organisation of the markets in agricultural products.
The fact that the product of the disputed â100 vegetableâ-claims contains vitamin D2 produced with the use of fungi or yeasts does not make it misleading to characterise the product as purely vegetable, the Commission argues.
