France

Mar 20, 2025

The Government announced this Friday, March 14, 2025, the modification of the Nutri-score calculation in view of public health problems, particularly overweight and obesity.

Catherine Vautrin, Minister of Labor, Health, Solidarity and Families, Annie Genevard, Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty of France, Éric Lombard, Minister of Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty, Yannick Neuder, Minister in charge of Health and Access to Health, and Véronique Louwagie, Minister Delegate in charge of Trade, Crafts, Small and Medium Enterprises and Social and Solidarity Economy, are committed to making this food model accessible to all by signing a decree.

This new version is more stringent with respect to certain products processed by the agri-food industry to take into account recent scientific work. In particular, it makes it possible to “improve the differentiation of foods according to their salt and sugar content,” the government communiqué describes.
