USA

Jun 17, 2024

On June 14, 2024, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) proposed exempting certain cottage cheese products from the Food Traceability Rule. This rule mandates additional recordkeeping for foods on the Food Traceability List. The exemption targets cottage cheese regulated under the Grade "A" Pasteurized Milk Ordinance (PMO), deemed to follow stringent safety standards. The exemption would cover Grade “A” cottage cheese listed by the Interstate Milk Shippers Program. Public comments on the proposal are open until September 12, 2024, via the Federal eRulemaking Portal or by mail to the FDA’s Dockets Management Staff.
