Survey on non-compliant health claims in dietary supplements
France
Sep 26, 2022
The Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Prevention (DGCCRF) has analyzed the claims on the packaging of the most sold food supplements on the Internet. Its survey, published on Monday, September 19, 2022, thus reports an anomaly rate of 60% of the 75 verified operators, with, in many cases, false promises from a nutritional, therapeutic or medical point of view.
In addition to these offenses, 30 operators had omitted to record certain "mandatory information required by Regulation N° 1924/2006 and other regulatory texts". These forgotten mentions are, for example, those specifying "the importance of a varied and balanced diet".
