Olive oil standard

Israel

Jul 28, 2022

The Ministry of Economy and Industry published Revision of the Mandatory Standard SI 191 dealing with olive oil. This standard adopts the International Olive Council's document COI/T.15/NC No 3/ Rev.15: November 2019 called "Trade Standard Applying to Olive Oils and Olive Pomace Oils" with a few changes that appear in the standard's Hebrew section. The major differences between the old version and this new revised draft standard are as follow:

  • Removes from the Hebrew section a few national deviations relating to the "median of defect" in refined and mixed olive oils;
  • Deletes remark b from section 10.1.4, which required that "where the source of the olive oil in not from the European Union but is traded by them, it shall be marked by the country where the olives are grown";
