Declaration of caffeine content in prepared beverages

Taiwan

Jun 23, 2022

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a draft amendment to modify the labeling standards for on-site brewed beverages and expand the scope of products that must declare total caffeine content.

It is proposed to change the designation from "coffee beverages" to "on-site brewed beverages containing caffeine," which must state the total caffeine content of the beverages.

At the same time, the Food and Drug Administration encourages industry to take the initiative to mark relevant warnings, such as avoiding excessive consumption of caffeinated beverages, drinking caffeinated beverages in moderation or other warnings with equivalent meanings, and reminding consumers to consult when purchasing beverages at any time.
